The Wreck

6 MONTHS, I only had the car for 6 months to the day!

W/B on Bain School Road towards Fairview (Mint Hill). Mercury Mountaineer's trailer slips off the road to the right. The trailer gets low and when it comes up to a driveway, the driveway acts as a ramp, the trailer tips, hops, and then topples into oncoming traffic (me).

The Civic really did do a great job in the absorption of the impact. However, a single 3 foot solid steel pry bar breached the laminated glass. It came to rest in the passenger seat, with the opposite end laying on the dashboard above the stereo, mere inches from where I ducked down, avoiding the shattering glass.

The Mercury Mountaineer and trailer that contributed to this catastrophe

The mess that was left behind. This was spread across the entire street before swept by the fire department.

After the fire department moved the car off the road.

What a wreck.

Damage extended the the left side of the car in some places.

Most the force impacted the driver's side corner.

It appears that the trailer was dragged along the front of the bumper as well.

The windshield and roof took quite a beating.

The interior of the car is coated with glass. There is a piece of broken wood from the trailer resting on the console. You can see this if you click on the picture.

Penatration of the windshield by the pry bar caused the lower left gash, the dragging of the utility trailer over the car caused the top right hole.

The roof really took a beating from the trailer, apparently rolling or being dragged over the Civic.

The damage made it over the entire car to include the trunk.

Brads for an automatic nailer where all over the car and roadway.

Contents from the trailer were stuck under the car.
